1988–1994
The first production era
Open-pit mining took place across the Slab, Calvada and York pits from 1988 to 1992. Residual heap leaching continued into 1994.

Rebuilding the pathway to production
Since 2021, Lahontan has moved Santa Fe from renewed exploration through resource definition, economic assessment and permitting.

Lahontan Gold is formed
The Company is created through amalgamation in February and begins drilling at Santa Fe the following month.
- 2022Public markets
Trading begins
Lahontan completes its reverse takeover and begins trading on the TSX Venture Exchange, followed by an OTCQB listing.
- 2023Resource definition
Maiden mineral resource
The first modern mineral resource estimate establishes the scale of the Santa Fe opportunity.
- 2024Economics
Maiden PEA completed
The December 2024 Preliminary Economic Assessment outlines a phased development concept built around shallow oxide material.
- 2025Permitting
Exploration plan approved
The Bureau of Land Management approves the Santa Fe exploration Plan of Operations as resource-expansion drilling continues.
- 2026Growth
2.385 Moz AuEq
The August 2026 pit-constrained estimate increases total mineral resources by 22% over the 2024 estimate. State-level mine permitting and an updated PEA advance in parallel.
- 2027Target
Construction
Lahontan is targeting the start of construction at Santa Fe, subject to studies, permitting and financing.
Today
The next chapter is being written now
Santa Fe now combines historic production, modern resources, existing mine infrastructure and a defined permitting pathway. The Company's priority is converting that foundation into a practical restart plan.
